Movenience B.V. was incorporated by the Dutch companies N.V. Westerscheldetunnel and NedMobiel and the Portuguese company Brisa International S.A..
N.V. Westerscheldetunnel is responsible for the profitable operation of the Westerschelde Tunnel. N.V. Westerscheldetunnel is a private company that manages one of the public highways, which means it has gained unique experience in the Netherlands with respect to toll collection, tunnel and road management, maintenance, traffic management and traffic safety. The company intends to implement this knowledge and experience in a broader sense, especially in view of the introduction of road pricing.
The Brisa company is Portugal’s biggest toll operator, responsible for more than 1,000 kilometres of toll roads in total. In addition to toll collection, Brisa concentrates on other forms of payment using an electronic device inside the car. The Via Verde system also enables motorists to make fast, safe and convenient payments for parking and filling up.
NedMobiel is a company with a great deal of experience and know-how in the field of Public Private Partnerships as well as in infrastructure pricing. For instance, it gave advice on two projects: the Zuidoostvleugel BrabantStad Accessibility Programme and the Rotterdam New Waterway Link. The company has also advised a number of other organisations, including the ‘Different Payment for Mobility’ platform and the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management.
These three companies’ joint venture will create favourable prospects for further developments on the automobility market.
