Incorporation of Movenience
Movenience B.V. was incorporated by N.V. Westerscheldetunnel, Brisa International S.A. and NedMobiel in July 2007. Movenience combines comfort with mobility in the infrastructure pricing market, and to achieve this, Movenience will be operating an electronic payment system for toll levying, parking, filling up and other car-related payments. Since the beginning of 2010, Movenience has its own back office and its own On Board Units (OBUs) to enable it to provide this service. An OBU is an electronic payment device inside the car.
Movenience was incorporated in response to developments on the European toll market. This market shows a clear division between toll operators and service providers specialising in and focusing on supplying European Electronic Toll Systems (EETS), as shown in the service provision model below:
Movenience will fulfil the role of EETS service provider and has two different clients and contracts:
- A contract with road users enabling them to use EFC (Electronic Fee Collection) products to make car-related payments such as tolls, parking and filling up.
- EFC operators that accept the Movenience OBU as a means of payment. N.V. Westerscheldetunnel is the first operator to conclude a contract with Movenience. Contracts with operators are based on a Service Level Agreement (SLA), which provides operators with security regarding the quality of service. Under this agreement, Movenience will take over all risks and responsibilities relating to the completion of OBU transactions.
